Frequently Asked Questions
— How can I reach you?
Head on over to my contact page or you can email me directly at jaslyn@jaslyngilbert.com.
— How do I book you for a photo session?
You can email me directly at jaslyn@jaslyngilbert.com. Make sure you include your contact information, as well as details about what kind of photos you are seeking, dates, locations, etc. The more details the better! From there, I will respond with any additional questions and set up a time that we can talk on the phone and/or meet in person. Once we have met and we mutually agree it is a good fit, I’ll send you a contract that will outline the services we agreed upon, estimated costs, required deposits, and all the legalese for you to sign. Bookings are on a first-come, first-served basis and your date is not booked until I have received the signed contract (and applicable deposit).
— What’s your policy for rescheduling?
Things happen. I understand. With my written approval, you may reschedule no later than 30 days prior to the date of the shoot. Should I be unable to accommodate your request for a rescheduled date you will not be held responsible for the remaining balance agreed upon in our contract, but you will forfeit your initial deposit.
— How long will it take to get my photos?
Most often, I try to have your photos ready within two weeks of the photoshoot.
— How do I receive my photos?
Your photos will be delivered via an online link where you can download high-resolution files (unless otherwise stated in our contract).
— Will you do any retouching to my photos?
I edit every image individually to improve exposure, color, contrast, etc. Depending on the type of shoot (headshots for example), I will do basic retouching to remove any temporary blemishes. Heavy retouching is available for an additional fee.
— Can you print the photos for me?
Yes! I use a professional printing company that can do photo prints in a variety of sizes and mediums (paper, canvas, wood, metals), as well as other keepsake items (books, cards, and much more).
— Am I allowed to print the digital photos you give me?
Yes, provided we have outlined those details in our contract you can print your photos at any lab of your choice. I will provide you with a print release at the same time you receive your digital download link.
— Do I own the copyright to my photos once you have sent them to me?
Unless otherwise stated in your contract, I am the copyright owner of the images I produce. However, with my included print release, you are able to use your images for personal use (printing and sharing). I do not watermark my images, so you are free to print your photos at the lab of your choice. What you can’t do is use the images for any sort of commercial entity without written permission from me.
— What kind of equipment do you use?
I use a variety of professional Nikon camera gear and other professional lighting equipment.
— Are you insured?
Yes, I am fully insured with both equipment and liability insurance.
— How long have you been a professional photographer?
I earned my degree in photography and starting shooting professionally right after graduation and haven’t stopped since (over 17 years!).
— Will you use my photos on your website?
It’s vital for me to share my existing body of work to attract new clients and illustrate my skills! I can’t guarantee that you will end up on my website or social media accounts, but you might.
— What do you charge for travel?
I typically don’t charge for my travel time, but I do bill for my expenses like gas, airfare, meals, and accommodations. Every shoot is different, so contact me for more details on if you will incur these expenses during your shoot.
— What forms of payment do you accept?
You can pay securely online through my invoicing system. I accept card and bank payments through this system. However, you can also mail me a check if that is easier for you.
— What clothing tips do you have?
This will depend on your photoshoot and the style of the images. We will discuss this during our booking conversation.
— Will you help me with posing?
Yes, of course! But this doesn’t mean your photos are going to feel overly posed or stiff. We will work together to make you look your best and capture meaningful moments.
— I have more questions, what should I do?
I’m happy to answer any of your questions. Drop me a note via my contact page or send me an email at jaslyn@jaslyngilbert.com.
